The design came about as a result Microsoft's need for a community web site that would fit into their existing Amalga and HealthVault look and feel.
"share information intended for existing customers including product updates, training content, documentation, customer webcasts and details for upcoming events. At the same time, it is also a vehicle for customers to participate in topical discussion forums, share product suggestions, exchange Extensions and establish professional connections."
